Eleven-year-old artist Zakk Deyniel Titulado won the top prize in the Manila Bulletin Sketchfest on-the-spot kiddie category – for the third time.

Second place went to Maria Felicity Tejada and third place to Hailey Yzabel Aldea in the same category.

“Masaya po at nakakagulat na nanalo ulit ako. Ito po yung first time na nanalo ako sa face-to-face Manila Bulletin Sketchfest kasi nung nakaraang nanalo ako 2020 at 2021 online (I’m happy and surprised that I won again. This is my first time winning MB Sketchfest’s physical event because the previous years that I won was held online),” he said.

The 11-year-old champion said he would continue to join the Sketchfest in the coming years.

Other first-place winners were Myrh Lynmuel Isaias (On-the-spot – Junior), Lance Kirby Yaneza (On-the-spot – Senior), Mark Angelo Argarin (Digital), and Reynaldo Barredo (Exhibition).

Titulado was among the 16 artists with entries in the on-the-spot, exhibition, and digital categories who emerged as winners for this year’s Manila Bulletin Sketchfest following the judging process held at the Music Hall of SM Mall of Asia on Saturday, Oct. 22.

After two years of conducting the event online, MB’s annual art contest returned as a physical event with the theme “Saving Earth” in line with its goal to remind the public of environmental conservation.

Participants were given five hours to complete their artwork, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The judges were AirAsia Communications and Public Affairs and Executive for Corporal Social Responsibility and Sustainability Kevin Briant Samonte, visual artists Fil Delacruz, Rogelio “Toti” Cerda, Byran Yabut, Jonathan Rañola, and contemporary artist Zar, based on their adherence to the theme (40 percent), creativity (35 percent), and originality (25 percent).

“On behalf of the Manila Bulletin family, thank you for your ardent participation in the MB Sketchfest 2022. Let us all continue working together to save the earth,” Manila Bulletin Publisher Sonny Coloma said.
