The Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed it has in its custody the sister of the alleged middleman in the slaying last Oct. 3 of radio broadcaster Percival Mabasa, better known as Percy Lapid.

DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla said the sister of the late Jun Globa Villamor was turned over by Secretary Erwin Tulfo of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

It was reported that Jun Villamor talked to his sister before he died last Oct. 18 at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City where he was a person deprived of liberty (PDL).

Self-confessed killer of Percy Lapid, Joel S. Escorial, in his affidavit disclosed that a certain Crisanto Palana Villamor hired him to kill Percy Lapid for a P550,000 reward.

Escorial also confessed that last Oct. 3 he was with brothers Edmon and Israel Dimaculangan, and a person identified only as “Orly” or “Orlando” last Oct. 3 when he shot Percy Lapid three times using a .45 caliber pistol.

Remulla had ordered an investigation into Villamor’s death at NBP. The investigation led to the suspension of BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag and the appointment of Gregorio Catapang Jr., former chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, as BuCor officer-in-charge.

The DOJ started the preliminary investigation on the murder complaint on Percy Lapid’s death on Monday, Oct. 24. The investigation will resume on Nov. 4
