Kaya, Nomads win in Pacquiao Challengers

KAYA FC and Nomads Manila FC scored victories in the Pacquiao 3-in-1 Challengers Cup men's and women's open divisions, respectively, on Sunday at the University of Makati Stadium.

Kaya outgunned Forza FC, 3-2, while Nomads Manila blasted Azuri FC, 5-1.

Kaya FC joined University of Makati (UMak) in the win column with a 1-0 slate in the men's under-23 division composed of eight teams divided into two groups.

The top two from each group after a single round robin eliminations will advance to the knockout semifinals of the tournament played every weekend.

Nomads Manila likewise entered the win column with a 1-0 record along with UMak in the ladies division, where there are five teams and the top two after the single round robin will battle in the knockout finals right away.

On the opening day of the tournament last Friday, both the UMak men's under-23 team and women's open team came out victorious against their counterparts from Malaya FC.

Umak defeated Malaya, 2-1, in the men's U-23 match and outgunned Malaya, 4-3, in the women's match.

The men's u-23 tournament is composed of eight teams divided into two groups, with the top two from each group after a single round robin eliminations advancing to the knockout semifinals.

Meanwhile, there are five teams in the women's open category and the top two after the single round robin will battle in the knockout finals right away.
