K-pop boy band Golden Child member Y (Choi Sung-yun) will start his military service on March 20.
In a notice on Feb. 27, Woollim Entertainment, the group’s agency, said, “We notify about enlistment of Golden Child member Y (Choi SungYun). Y (Choi SungYun) will fulfill his required time with the military by enlisting in the army on March 20, 2023.”
Y will release a digital single album before enlistment and this will be released in mid-March. He “will meet with fans through broadcasts.”
“We ask for your continued support and encourage[ment] for Y (Choi SungYun) until he finishes his military service and comes back,” it said.
Y will be the second member of Golden Child to enlist. In March last year, Golden Child’s leader Lee Dae-yeol started his military service.
Golden Child performed on a show in Manila last October.
On Feb. 26, it was announced that BTS member J-Hope will be enlisting in the military and has started “applying for the termination of his enlistment postponement. We will inform you of further updates in due course.”
