Adamson stunned University of Santo Tomas with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-19 win for its second straight win in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday, March 8, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Lady Falcons bucked a slow third set to come away with the swift victory and climbed 3-1 in the standings.

Trisha Tubu carried out the game-winning kill to lead Adamson with 13 points off nine attacks, three blocks and an ace.

It was a total team effort for the Lady Falcons, with three more players finishing in double-figures, including Kate Santiago who had 13 points, while Rizza Cruz and Lucille Almonte chipped in 12 and 10, respectively.

Trailing by two in the third set, 17-15, Adamson remained unfazed and went on a telling 10-2 run to seal the big win.

UST, which is coming off a huge win over the reigning champion National University last March 4, couldn’t translate the momentum into back-to-back victories.

“Again, masaya and wala work lang kumbaga UST, NU, or UE. laro lang kami, execute lang kami ng kailangan naming gawin,” said Adamson head coach Jerry Yee.

Eya Laure was the lone bright spot for the Golden Tigresses with a single-digit performance of nine points as they fell into a 3-1 hole in the standings. — Nikole Javier
