A new batch of Filipina queens has been crowned to represent the Philippines on the international pageant stage. Binibining Pilipinas 2023 marked the end of its 59th edition with a grand coronation night on May 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. Much like other beauty contests, its stage also became a platform that championed the talents of Filipino fashion creatives. Unlike the past two years, this year’s Binibining Pilipinas featured three female hosts. Joining Catriona Gray and Nicole Cordoves on the stage is their fellow Binibini Mj Lastimosa—all serving the most elegant and chic garbs made by Filipino designers.
A true style icon, former Miss Universe Catriona Gray donned a stunning red dress by designers Anthony Ramirez, a romantic lilac gown by Jaz Cerezo, and a neon green number by Resty Lagare. For added sparkle, she opted to wear stunning jewelry pieces from Bulgari and Tiffany and Co.
Miss Grand International 2016 first runner-up Nicole Cordoves also brought her style A-game at the coronation night. Our favorite pieces she wore during the night were Martin Bautista’s printed dress and Mark Bumganer’s pink evening.
While Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa was not afraid to go unconventional with her style choices. Among her stand-out looks were the hot pink halter dress with matching opera gloves and the navy hooded evening gown both by Bonita Penaranda.

TV host Vice Ganda hyped up the pageant’s swimsuit competition as she performed her latest single “Rampa” wearing a glimmering piece by Neric Beltran adorned with a metallic leaf-motif back piece.

The night’s special guest, Miss International 2022 Jasmin Selberg joined the Filipino fashion fest with a stunning embellished pink gown by Louis Pangilinan.

It was a moment when the reigning queens graced the stage for their final walk. Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2022 Gabrielle Basiano took everyone’s breath away with her gold dress decorated with butterflies by Ken Batino and Jevin Salaysay. Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2022 Chelsea Fernandez charmed everyone with her crystal-embellished gown. Nicole Borromeo ended her reign on a dramatic note with a pink and white ombre gown by Leo Almodal.

The pageant’s long gown competition is definitely the favorite of every style-savvy pageant fan. It’s all about glamor, elegance, and high-impact designs. And that’s what this year’s roster of Binibinis brought to the stage. Best in Evening Gown winner, Trisha Martinez of Laguna, donned a Louis Pangilinan piece, which was inspired by the Laguna Lake. Anna Valencia Lakrini, crowned Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2023, wore an enchanting pink gown by Nat Manilag. While Angelica Lopez, Binibining Pilipinas International 2023, had her golden moment wearing a gilded dress by Rian Fernandez. — John Legaspi
