‘Chedeng’ may enhance habagat as it exits PH

Typhoon “Chedeng” may enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat” as it maintained its strength while moving slowly over the Philippine Sea, the state weather bureau said Saturday.

Chedeng is unlikely to directly bring heavy rainfall over the country in the next three days.

But it mag bring gusty conditions while it affects the habagat in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas, Zambales, Bataan, Camiguin, and Dinagat Islands.

Chedeng may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between late evening today or early Monday, according to PAGASA.

“Chedeng is unlikely to directly bring heavy rainfall over the country in the next 3 days. However, the southwest monsoon may be enhanced by Chedeng and bring occasional rains over the western portions of Luzon and Visayas in the next 3 days,” PAGASA said.

The typhoon may also bring moderate to rough seas over the seaboards of extreme northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of mainland northern Luzon.

PAGASA advised owners of small seacrafts to take caution when going out to sea.
