Maja, Awra reunited in ‘Emojination’

Maja Salvador and Awra Briguela first crossed paths in 2016 when they starred in “FJP's Ang Probinsyano.”

Briguela was only 12 years old then, but enjoyed the company of 'big sis' Salvador. Seven years later, the two are reunited, this time to host TV5 and APT Productions' new game show offering, “Emojination.”

At the show's media conference, the two recalled how their relationship has grown beyond the set.

“When we first worked onscreen, she was so little, so I'm delighted to work with the Awra who is now the star Gen Zs look up to,” Salvador proudly noted at the show's media conference.

“Even though this is our first time together in this format, I'm confident the audience will still see our chemistry on screen,” Salvador added.

As for Briguela, she said she felt loved by Salvador who would really look after her.

“It's like she has a daughter on set. She would take care of me and really advice me on my look, my clothes, and even my nails, which she would personally help me clip. I'm even wearing her shoes [luxury brand Versace heels] because she felt it would look better on my outfit. I really appreciate her effort in making sure that I look my best,” Briguela related.

Beyond ensuring Briguela would be confident in her look, Salvador also guided the 20-year-old who is doing hosting duties for the first time.

“We saw how Awra was still hesitant to react or go off script during our rehearsals. But I'm really proud of her because she listened and few episodes in, we saw the Awra we were looking for. She was a revelation in this show,” Salvador said.

“I was used to memorizing script when I'm acting so it was really challenging for me at first to rely on cues and prompter,” Briguela confirmed.

“But then I listened ate Maja told me to just be myself and enjoy the show. When I did that, I realized that if I don't hold back, my hosting and banter skills will flow naturally,” Briguela added.

Though admittedly more experienced when it comes hosting — her last hosting stint was for noontime show “Eat Bulaga” — Salvador admitted she also saw Emojination as a challenge.

“I honestly didn't see myself hosting a game show so I was surprised when they offered Emojination to me.

“But I also thought, being in the industry for 20 years now, I really have to explore and try to do things I've never done before,” shared Salvador.

Emojination challenges celebrity contestants to decipher emoji puzzles and answer questions related to them.

“We're excited to offer this game show because it will really challenge our viewers and put their imagination and emoji knowledge to the test,” Briguela guaranteed.

Emojination airs every Sunday, 5 p.m., on TV5.
