
MANILA, Philippines — Two Chinese nationals were arrested for alleged possession of electronic equipment believed capable of intercepting information from phones and other communication devices in Baliwag, Bulacan yesterday.
Joint teams from the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) collared the suspects, identified only as Feng and Shi, at around 10:40 a.m. in Barangay Sabang.
CIDG chief Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said the suspects have been under surveillance for espionage.
Torre said the suspects were caught in the act of installing the equipment.
Police said they seized from the suspects an international mobile subscriber identity catcher, internet router and inverters as well as a sport utility vehicle.
Charges of violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act would be filed against the suspects, authorities said. — Emmanuel Tupas
