MANILA, Philippines — A son of Anson Que has yet to be dropped from the list of respondents in the kidnap-slay of the steel magnate, the Department of Justice announced yesterday.

According to DOJ Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon, the panel of prosecutors has not yet resolved the motion filed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to have Alvin Que removed from the list of respondents.

“They are going to resolve that together with the resolution to be issued by the panel of prosecutors. At the moment, he’s still included on the list. The motion will not be resolved separately,” Fadullon told reporters.

The prosecutors are expected to issue a resolution on whether the case will be filed in court and name the suspects to be impleaded.

The PNP has asked the DOJ to drop Alvin from the list of respondents, saying there is no sufficient evidence linking him to the kidnap-slay case.

The younger Que was implicated by one of the principal suspects, David Tan Liao, who claimed that Alvin ordered him to kidnap and kill the businessman.

Que and his driver Armanie Pabillo were reported missing on March 29. Their bodies were found in Rizal on April 10.

Que was killed even though his family paid P200 million in ramson, which was sent to casino junket operators and converted into cryptocurrency.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla assured the Que family that the DOJ would “be very fair” in handling the case.

“We try our best to follow the rule of law,” Remulla said. — Daphne Galvez
