Green finds for new moms: Eco-friendly picks just in time for Mother’s Day

From feeding essentials and baby diapers to toiletries, cradles, comforters, and strollers, Baby Company’s Green Finds make it easy to embrace sustainability

Mother’s Day is just around the corner. And yes, I have three sons who are all fully grown adults. So I wouldn’t blame you for raising your eyebrows at the audacity of me writing on a topic that has to do with new and expecting moms—but hear me out.

I’ve been following SM Retail’s Green Finds since it was launched in 2022—an umbrella retail concept that makes it easier for consumers to identify brands and products that embrace a green philosophy at the heart of their retail experience. I’ve also been a dedicated observer of retail trends and how brands engage with their audiences.

Today, Millennials and Gen Z make up the majority of new and expecting moms. Just two weeks ago, during the Franchise Asia Philippines Conference, SM Supermalls’ Senior Vice President for Marketing, Jonjon San Agustin, participated in a forum on “Knowing Your Consumer.” One key takeaway was this: consumers under 35 are more loyal to brands that are committed to sustainability and mindful of their environmental impact. This demographic actively seeks out and supports brands that promote inclusivity, eco-conscious initiatives, and a clear social agenda.

That’s why it’s both timely and commendable that Baby Company, a retail affiliate of SM Retail, has integrated Green Finds into its offerings—making eco-friendly options more accessible and convenient for young moms seeking products aligned with their values. For those wanting to “go green,” Baby Company’s Green Finds are a godsend. I especially appreciate how this effort extends across a wide range of products, offering real choices for eco-conscious parenting.

From feeding essentials and baby diapers to toiletries, cradles, comforters, and strollers, Baby Company’s Green Finds make it easy to embrace sustainability. While I haven’t had the chance to personally road-test these items, I’d love to hear from moms who do. For me, this is about raising awareness—because if one of my regular readers has an expecting wife or a daughter about to give birth, this might be the perfect tip. These products could be a meaningful gift of love this Mother’s Day!
Rascals Diapers
Take Rascals Diapers, for instance—a brand founded in New Zealand by a mom looking for affordable, high-quality diapers safe for her son’s eczema-prone skin. Now, the brand boasts over 210,000 five-star reviews globally and was named 2023’s Most Talked About Disposable Diaper by Babylist. It’s a Walmart favorite in the US, offering stress-reducing options for early parenthood at everyday prices—including diapers, training pants, and wipes.

Only Organic

At Only Organic, the promise is simple: to deliver premium, convenient meals, brekkies, finger foods, and snacks for babies, toddlers, and young children. The 20-year-old, family-owned brand from New Zealand remains a household name, with its food pouches considered the number one baby food in its home country.

PigeonPigeon, a trusted Japanese brand with over 65 years of heritage, is known globally for comfort, trust, value, and quality. It’s a go-to for many moms for mother and baby care essentials. Its heart-shaped logo—two hearts joined as one—symbolizes the bond between mother and child, forming the “P” in Pigeon.

Cradle NaturalThen there’s Cradle Natural, a brand that blends innovation and quality with a strong commitment to safety, practicality, and style. Since 2004, it has been a trailblazer in baby feeding essentials, from bottles and teats to hygiene and cleansing products.

Tried and tested, the products under Baby Company’s Green Finds label are certified for a reason—each brand is carefully vetted based on its values and sustainable practices. Looking back, I can’t help but wish Green Finds had existed when my boys were babies. These are more than just product picks—they’re retail choices that let us support people and planet while becoming more mindful consumers.
