MANILA, Philippines — The cast of the reality series “AFAM Wives Club” recounted how they met their foreign partners and shared their advice for those hoping to attract an afam.
For single mother Nathalie Hart, foreigners are naturally drawn to the distinct beauty of Filipinas.
“First of all, if you’re a Filipina, they are already attracted to you because you’re unique,” she said in a recent presscon. “You just have to make an effort by going to places where there are many foreigners or by logging in to a dating app. You have to invest time in chatting.”
“’How are you? It can be tiring sometimes, but I think in every relationship, you have to invest. Maybe just be open na lang like, ‘Hi, I’m available to you.’ And that’s the start,” added she.
Nathalie previously had relationships with an Indian guy and an Australian national. She has a daughter, Penelope, who is turning seven.

On the other hand, Keylyn Trajano, a reigning Miss Universal Woman and proud transgender Filipina, met her partner Luiz through the online dating app Tinder.
“To all the Pinays out there who hope to have an afam or simply hope to find love, this is not about labels or afam, this is about love. So, for those who want to fall in love, take your time. But when it comes (to it), embrace it because it feels so good to love and lalo ng mas masarap magmahal ang mga Pinay,” she enthused.
Lawyer and entrepreneur Julia Chu, meanwhile, first encountered her husband Michal in Spain in 2019. They were both exchange students sent by their respective universities to study there. Julia came from the University of the Philippines, while Michal was from a university in Poland.
“So the first month there, they (had) these welcome events for all the exchange students and we met at one of those events, which was a beer tournament between the students. So, I was paired with a German girl and I was losing pretty badly. So Michal, he offered to help, and he drank some of the beer for us, and that’s how it started,” recalled Julia.
Her advice in looking for a partner is to “just be yourself.”
“Finding a life partner is such a big important decision and if you’re changing who you are to attract a particular person, I think it’s not sustainable. So, you should just be true to who you are to be able to find the person who’s best fit for you.”
Social media personality Mari Fowler is also part of the cast, sharing her journey to motherhood.
“AFAM Wives Club” delves into womanhood, family, self-discovery and sisterhood. It’s a show that tells the “lives of Filipinas in cross-cultural relationships and the realities of finding love beyond borders.”
