The dismissal comes days after Stern on Monday was charged with a single misdemeanor charge of engaging or agreeing to engage in prostitution. He initially had been cited by Ventura County (CA) sheriff’s deputies on December 10 for allegedly soliciting a prostitute at a Camarillo hotel. His case was scheduled to be heard Tuesday in Ventura County court; the arraignment has been continued and will now take place February 6, TMZ reported. If convicted, Stern could face up to six months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
The single-camera Do You Want Kids? is about a married couple, Rosie (Bloom) and Alex Zilbalodis (Scovel), who in one universe have a baby and in the other do not, and the many ways that huge decision alters their lives.
The role Stern was to play and is now being recast is Freddy, the gruff patriarch of the Zilbalodis family.
Trent O’Donnell is directing the pilot, which Bloom co-wrote with her husband, film and TV writer Dan Gregor. The trio are executive producing with Steven Levitan and Danielle Stokdyk of 20th TV-based Levitan Productions and Jeff Morton. — Nellie Andreeva
