PBBM, sister Imee haven’t spoken to each other for almost 3 years

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said on Tuesday, May 5, that she sought the President’s comment on the recent remarks of his sister about their relationship, which she described as “non-existent.”

“Immediately after the UPLIFT Committee meeting, I approached the President and asked about this comment or statement of his sister, Senator Imee Marcos. And he said, yes, they haven’t spoken for almost three years,” Castro said in a Palace briefing.

“She has not been attending family gatherings, family events,” Castro added, relaying the President’s statement.

Asked the reason behind their years-long strained ties, the Palace official said it is better to ask the senator about the matter.

Castro stressed that the President does not harbor any ill feeling toward his sister.

“Tanungin n’yo po siguro si Senator Imee diyan dahil sa Pangulo po ay wala po siyang masamang anumang damdamin sa kanyang nakatatandang kapatid (Perhaps you should ask Senator Imee about that, because the President harbors no ill feelings toward his older sibling),” Castro said.

The Palace mouthpiece also revealed that the President “seemed disappointed” over the recent comments of his sister.

“Bago kasi siya sumagot ay pinag-isipan niya talaga. Sa aking paningin sa kanyang body language ay disappointed siya sa kanyang nadidinig na salita mula sa kanyang kapatid (Before he answered, he really thought it through. From my perspective, judging by his body language, he seemed disappointed by the words he was hearing from his sibling),”Castro said. — Betheena Unite
