Speed Series by the Mountain returns runners to the trails of Camp John Hay.
The 2XU Speed Series shifts from city streets to mountain trails as it stages its Baguio leg on July 26 at Camp John Hay, with registration opening May 28.
Following a sold-out Manila debut, the country’s first multi-city performance running circuit expands to higher ground under the theme “Bound to Nature,” offering races across distances from 2 kilometers to a 21-kilometer half marathon.
Set about 1,400 meters above sea level, the Baguio leg will test runners on rolling terrain lined with pine forests, trading flat urban routes for cooler conditions and more technical trails.

“Speed Series started in the city to prove that running can be fast, technical, and spectator-friendly,” a 2XU Philippines spokesperson said. “In Baguio, we go ‘Bound to Nature.’ This is about reminding runners why we started — testing yourself against the mountain.”
Race categories include the 2km Speed Run, 5km, 10km, 21km half marathon, and a relay event, marking the first time the series offers longer-distance options.
“After Manila, the feedback was clear: runners want more distance, more terrain, more purpose,” said Christine Majadillas, chief experience officer of One of a Kind Asia and experience producer of the series. “Baguio gives us that space.”
Organizers said the mountain leg also supports efforts to promote sustainable sport and position Baguio as a year-round destination for training and wellness tourism, in partnership with Camp John Hay.
Participants will receive a 2XU race jersey along with perks from partner brands, with limited early bird slots available.
The series will conclude with its third leg in Boracay on Sept. 20.
The 2XU Speed Series is designed to elevate competitive running through high-intensity formats, professional timing and broader athlete engagement across Manila, Baguio and Boracay.
