When angels walk the earth

Furne Amato’s ‘Harvest’ brings an otherworldly edge to bridal couture

In Furne Amato’s hands, bridalwear stepped away from the expected and entered the realm of fantasy and the sacred. His latest collection, “Harvest,” imagined the wedding dress as a statement, untethered from earthly convention.

At Conrad Manila’s Inspired Beginnings 2026, the Dubai-based Filipino designer opened the hotel’s three-day bridal showcase on June 26 with the avant-garde bridal couture collection, setting the tone for a fashion presentation built on maximalist spectacle.

For Conrad Manila’s 10th anniversary theme, “A Decade of Love,” Amato offered a bolder reading of romance with a design philosophy that leaned on craft, structure, and attention to detail.

‘Harvest’ transforms the runway into a theatrical celebration of romance and craftsmanship

Known for his theatrical eye, Amato presented bridalwear that looked soft from afar but carried power up close. The gowns had sculpted shapes, lavish embroidery, and a polished finish that gave each look a sense of grandeur.

The bridal creations highlights the collection’s emphasis on texture, volume, and handcrafted detail

In “Harvest,” abundance was felt through form, texture, and movement. The gowns carried volume and detail, yet they moved with a lightness that softened even the most dramatic shapes. As the models walked, the collection leaned fully into the divine, making them look like angels walking among mortals.

The collection also reflected how many modern brides now see fashion as part of the wedding experience, not simply as an outfit for the day. After all, a gown can set the tone, shape the mood, and say something about the bride before she even speaks. — Jasper Valdez
