Angel Castro draws from personal experiences for ‘Creampie,’ using the VMX thriller as an outlet for heavier dramatic scenes
Sexy actress Angel Castro drew from some of her own experiences while filming the darker scenes of VMX’s Creampie, saying the movie gave her a way to release tension she had been carrying in real life.
Angel described Creampie as heavier than the other VMX projects she has done, particularly because of its thriller elements and dramatic scenes.
“Creampie is probably the only thriller, or thriller-esque, story I’ve done. The drama was also heavy for me,” Angel said during the film’s press conference.
She added that working on the movie became an outlet for some of what she was dealing with away from the set.
“It was fun filming because I was able to release some of the tension I was carrying in real life. I was able to use the scenes as an outlet,” she said.
Asked what kind of tension she was referring to, Angel kept the details private, describing it simply as “personal baggage.”
Earlier in the press conference, she said some Viva projects have touched on situations that felt familiar to her.
“Some of the films at Viva hit close to home. Not the love scenes, but what the characters go through,” she said.
She added that Creampie also had scenes that connected with some of her own experiences.
“Creampie gets a little dark. There are scenes that are similar to things I’ve gone through,” Angel said, without elaborating further.
Her co-star Mark Dionisio said their familiarity with each other helped when they worked on the film’s more intimate sequences. The two had previously worked together at GMA.
“We were already comfortable with each other. Even before shooting, we would talk and chat, so that made the scenes easier for us,” Mark said.
He said trust between scene partners was especially important during their more demanding scenes.
“The important thing is that we trust each other. That made everything easier and smoother, even with how passionate the scene was,” Mark said.
Mark also described one of their scenes in Creampie as among the most intense he has done for VMX.
“For me, it’s one of the most passionate and daring scenes I’ve done in VMX,” he said.
Angel, meanwhile, said Creampie became an important learning experience as she adjusted from television work to film. She said repeatedly performing emotional and intimate scenes for different camera angles was one of the biggest changes.
“In film, you have to repeat the scene several times because of the different angles,” she said. “You start with the crying scene, then move into the love scene, then go back to the beginning for another angle. That was something I had to get used to.”
She also credited director Rodante “Row” Pajemna Jr. for teaching her how to handle blocking without making a scene look overly technical.
“I feel like Creampie is where I really learned,” Angel said. “I was able to use what I learned from Creampie in the films I did afterward.”
Creampie, which also stars Christy Imperial, Vince Rillon, and Margareth Sison, premiered on VMX on July 31 and is now available for streaming on the platform. — Jasper Valdez
