Travel giant reports sustainability gains, sets global paternity leave policy

The travel company reports progress in lower-carbon bookings, tourism innovation and workplace support as part of its 2025 sustainability agenda

Trip.com Group has released its 2025 Sustainability Report, detailing progress in climate action, inclusive travel, community development, and tourism innovation, while announcing a new global policy providing eligible employees with at least 20 days of paid paternity leave.

The report is structured around the company’s “Friendly Four” framework covering family, community, environmental, and stakeholder initiatives.

A key sustainability milestone was the validation of Trip.com Group’s near-term and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative, making it the first online travel company in Asia Pacific to have both targets validated by SBTi.

The company also reported that 2.74 million users selected lower-carbon business travel options in 2025, resulting in 23.44 million lower-carbon travel bookings.

Trip.com Group expanded its sustainable travel offerings across accommodations, flights, car rentals, and rail as part of efforts to reduce the environmental impact of travel.

The company also launched a $100 million Tourism Innovation Fund at its 2025 Global Partner Conference to support tourism projects and cross-sector collaborations focused on destination development and new visitor experiences.

Its Country Retreats program created more than 400 jobs and supported about 11,000 indirect employment opportunities during the reporting year. Over five years, the program has contributed to about 51,000 employment opportunities.

The company’s new paternity leave policy took effect Aug. 1 in selected Asian markets, including the Philippines. Eligible employees in the Philippines will receive an additional 13 days of fully paid leave, increasing the existing seven-day entitlement to a minimum of 20 days.

Trip.com Group also reported that its childcare subsidy supported 1,114 employees in 2025, with about $1.6 million invested. The program has supported 2,038 families since its launch.

Women accounted for 33.1 percent of senior management positions and 52.3 percent of management roles in key revenue-generating functions, while women held 33 percent of STEM-related positions across the group.
