Ellen Adarna appears to have found a rather creative way to have fun with child support.
The actress recently posted a playful video on Instagram featuring herself getting smacked with bundles of cash, prompting one follower to wonder if the post was hinting at a new boyfriend.
Ellen was quick to clear that up.
“I don’t have a boyfriend!” she replied.
The actress then revealed the real punchline behind the cash.
“This is [John Lloyd’s] monthly child support,” she wrote in the comments. “I just turned it into playtime.”
Ellen shares son Elias with actor John Lloyd Cruz, and the former couple have remained on good terms as co-parents.
She has previously talked about the financial arrangement for their son, making it clear that she does not approach it as a demand.
“If they give, they give. If they don’t, they don’t. I don’t demand,” Ellen said in an earlier interview.
She also recalled how John Lloyd responded when she gave him an estimate of Elias’ basic needs.
“When he asked me how much Elias needs, I gave him a breakdown of his basic needs, just his basic needs, and that’s P10,000 max,” she said. “But he insisted on doubling it.”
That history gives Ellen’s latest post a little more context but, true to her sense of humor, she kept the subject light.
Instead of making a serious announcement about co-parenting finances, she turned a pile of cash into a prop for a joke.
