MANILA, Philippines — Star Magic has expressed concern over hurtful comments directed at its 13-year-old artist Michelle Garcia following the backlash received by her father Patrick Garcia.

In a statement released Thursday, the talent management agency asked the public to keep her out of issues involving the adults.
“Star Magic is deeply concerned about the hurtful comments directed at our artist Michelle Garcia, who is only 13 years old,” the agency said.
The statement came after Patrick discussed his past relationship with Mercado in an interview with Ogie Diaz, where he addressed the circumstances surrounding their 2008 breakup and his absence during Mercado’s pregnancy.
Patrick said he chose to speak publicly after Michelle became the subject of online criticism. He recalled his daughter asking him why he had not shared his side of the story.
The discussion has since prompted statements from Mercado’s camp, her husband Dennis Trillo, and longtime manager Becky Aguila.
The camp also asked the public to stop the hate and refrain from bashing Patrick’s family, particularly Michelle.
Aguila, meanwhile, addressed Patrick directly in a Facebook post, saying she was speaking not only as Mercado’s manager but as someone who considers herself the actress’ “second mom.” She questioned why Patrick chose to revisit the matter through an interview instead of reaching out privately.
Star Magic reaffirmed its support for Michelle and said it would continue looking after her welfare.
“We are prepared to take appropriate action against those who continue to harass Michelle, in accordance with laws protecting children from abuse and libel,” the agency said.
“We continue to support Michelle and look after her well-being,” Star Magic said.
Patrick and Mercado’s relationship ended in 2008. Their son, Alex Jazz, was born in August of that year.
Michelle, on the other hand, is Patrick’s daughter to Nikka Martinez. She is currently under K-Pop Professional Training Program at SM Universe Singapore of SM Entertainment.
