99 more OFWs from Sudan to arrive at NAIA

A total of 99 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Sudan are expected to arrive on Sunday evening, May 7.

In a statement, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said it is now preparing to receive the OFWs who are expected to arrive at 7:40 p.m. via Saudi Airlines.

“This will be the largest group of Filipinos to return home so far from the Sudan conflict,” the DMW statement read.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is also assisting the DMW in all the preparations for the arrival of the 99 OFWs.

Part of the returning 99 OFWs, according to DMW, is the group of 41 OFWs who were billeted at the Maadi Hotel-Cairo.

The arriving OFWs are the third batch of the 340 Filipinos rescued in Sudan late last month.

On May 4, the first two batches composed of 152 Filipinos arrived also via two flights of the Saudi Airlines.

The DMW earlier said each of the arriving OFWs will be given P100,000 assistance package.
