DICT on Monday, May 15, said the initiative was conducted with the support of local government units in Calumpit. The hotspots were specifically installed and activated in Calumpang Elementary School, Calumpit National High School, and Longos Elementary School.

“Public schools and state universities and colleges (SUCs) are places that are of high priority for the rollout of free Wi-Fi sites,” said DICT.

“[We] will continue to provide free internet connectivity for the benefit of every Filipino,” it added.

A total of 4,108 free Wi-Fi sites have been installed across the archipelago as of March 2023. Earlier in April, the DICT told the Manila Bulletin that they are targeting to mount 8,495 sites this year.
