In a dazzling display of strength, resilience and elegance, reigning Miss Universe R’Bonney Nola Gabriel emerged as an empowering figure for her fellow women and Filipino fashion in her very first visit to the country.

Feeling immediately at home in her father’s birthplace, the half-Filipino-half-American global beauty titlist was in Manila to grace this year’s Miss Universe-Philippines pageant, which concluded on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Making the most of her visit, she paid a visit to a clothing factory in Caloocan City the very next day to show her unwavering passion for local fashion and support its mostly women-comprised workers striving to make a positive impact in their families and communities.

Her destination was Smilee Apparel, a renowned clothing brand that prides itself on manufacturing 100 percent Filipino-made shirts. With meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to quality, the company has secured a reputable position in the fashion industry, showcasing the best Filipino craftsmanship.

Gabriel’s factory visit provided a significant opportunity to showcase the unique beauty of Philippine design and workmanship while emphasizing the importance of supporting local industries. With her grace, beauty and sincerity, she inspired the factory workers, owners, and other guests from the industry who were present to continue playing an active role in the growth and success of the thriving Filipino fashion scene.

Miss Universe 2022 was also joined by newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines Michelle Dee and her runners-up — Miss Supranational Philippines 2023 Pauline Amelinckx and Miss Charm Philippines Krishnah Gravidez — during the visit.

In an interview, the new queens shared how Gabriel, an accomplished fashion designer, model and advocate for women’s empowerment, generously gave them invaluable guidance and insights on how to be the best Philippine representatives and advocates they can be while serving as worthy role models to their fellow Filipinas.

“R’Bonney’s personal journey and experiences have inspired me, even more, to embrace this newfound platform, amplify my voice and make a significant impact in promoting everything that is good about our country,” Dee enthused.

Gabriel’s visit to Smilee Apparel’s factory was truly a morning well spent with the most beautiful woman in the world providing a momentous boost to Filipino fashion while underscoring the importance of supporting local industries — advocacies which the new Miss Universe Philippine and her court promise to carry on in their own reign.
