Magnolia guard Jio Jalalon, Beau Belga of Rain or Shine and JR Quinahan of NLEX bore the brunt of the penalty following their recent participation in various exhibition games outside the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) without permission from their respective mother teams.

Jalalon, the cat-quick Hotshots guard, was assessed the biggest penalty of P100,000 as his recent foray in Cebu was already his second offense.

Last week, Magnolia team management handed its own internal sanction, suspending the 30-year-old Jalalon for 15 days without pay.

Belga and Quinahan were fined by the league P50,000 each, along with an additional P20,000 for being part of the melee that marred the exhibition match in Cebu over a week ago.

Rain or Shine management also slapped Belga and teammate Rey Nambatac with separate fines as part of the team’s decision to impose discipline on the two.

Marcial also handed out P50,000 fines each on Nambatac, Rain or Shine’s Jhonard Clarito, San Miguel Beer’s Vic Manuel and Allyn Bulanadi, Converge’s Alec Stockton and Barkley Ebona, and NorthPort’s Arwind Santos for being part of “ligang labas” in recent weeks.

Marcial have talked to all players involved before assessing the heavy fines, warning them as well of their responsibilities to their mother clubs and the league.

The league commissioner also reminded them that repeat offenders will face harsher penalties.
