MAINE Mendoza denied a report that her wedding to actor-politician Arjo Atayde will be televised.
“Huh? This is not true and the article is misleading. Not sure if clickbait done on purpose or comprehension is just [smiling face with tear emoji]. I am the last person to publicize a personal affair,” Mendoza tweeted on Saturday, sharing the link to the article.
“Kakaloka din how some netizens would simply believe what they see on the Internet. Kailan ba mauuso ang fact-checking?! (It's crazy how some netizens would simply believe what they see on the Internet. When will fact-checking be a standard?!)” she added.
Published by a news website, the article quoted Joey de Leon as saying that the Mendoza-Atayde wedding will be shown on TV5, the same network where the original Eat Bulaga will be moving soon. Mendoza was one of the hosts who resigned from TAPE Inc. to join Eat Bulaga trio — Vic Sotto, Tito Sotto and de Leon — in the move.
The publication's original tweet and the article are no longer available.

De Leon's alleged quote, which netizens said may have caused the confusion read, “We will start in a few days… Hindi na namin papatagalin kasi hinahanap na rin ng mga katawan namin. Ang maganda nito, we're already airing during our 44th anniversary and the wedding of Maine. So 'yun yung mga big events na aabangan niyo (We will start in a few days… It won't take too long now because we are looking forward to returning to our routine. On the plus side, we're already airing during our 44th anniversary and the wedding of Maine. Those are the big events you can look forward to).”
Since publicizing their relationship status in 2019, Mendoza and Atayde have tried to keep some semblance of privacy in their relationship, including details for their upcoming wedding. The two got engaged on July 28, 2022.
