LBC Embraces Sports – Golf, Badminton, Basketball and Many More

In keeping with its corporate philosophy, LBC, the Philippines’ premier cargo-forwarding business,
remains steadfast in the development of sports around the communities it serves. For instance, in the
Greater Toronto area (GTA), LBC is the principal sponsor of the annual interleague golf tournament
where half a dozen golf clubs in Toronto and nearby cities actively participate in. Yearly, during the 2 nd
or 3 rd week in June, golfers from various golf organizations, like Philcan Golf, Sierra GC, BGAT (Bayanihan
Golf Association of Toronto), SOGA (Southern Ontario Golf Association), Double Blue GC and Talamak
Golf Allianz congregate for a full day of golf competition.

Last June 17, Saturday, the giant LBC Cup trophy was hoisted by the winning team, Philcan, at the
banquet hall of Bethesda Grange golf course where the tournament was held. Earlier during the day,
token gifts, tee shirts and gift certificates were given out by LBC to the participants, numbering over 140
players, to create awareness of the LBC brand, as well as to encourage active healthy lifestyle habits and
sportsmanship within the community.

Among the many golf participants of the interleague tournament is the team of the Talamak Golf Allianz.
Raffy Policarpio, LBC Country Head, is one of active members of the club.

Philcan golf club emerged team champion of the 2023 LBC-GTA Interleague Golf Tournament held at the
Bethesda Grange GC in June. At the foreground is the roving LBC Cup which will be kept by the winning
team until the next tournament.

Among the many golf participants of the interleague tournament is the team of the Talamak Golf Allianz.  Raffy Policarpio, LBC Country Head, is one of active members of the club.

Earlier in May, the Toronto branch of LBC also resumed its annual sponsorship of the 5th LBC Fun
Badminton tournament (held at the Epic Sports Arena in Scarborough) wherein Filipino-Canadian
badminton enthusiasts from all over the GTA came in full attendance. In-house, the employees and
contract vendors of LBC are themselves engaging in sports by holding friendly basketball games after
office hours or during weekends. According to Raffy Policarpio, LBC Country Head, this coming August,
the staff and customers of LBC will again participate in the yearly charity walk of ANCOP (Answer the Cry
of the Poor), a non-profit organization – to highlight LBC’s commitment towards sports development and
community engagement.

Male and female badminton enthusiasts coming from various parts of Ontario, whether young or old, have participated in the yearly fun badminton games that LBC had sponsored over the years.

Other companies and entities, like Max’s Restaurant, have joined hands with LBC in the sponsorship of various sports tournaments spearheaded by the LBC Toronto branch.

Aside from golf and badminton games, LBC Toronto Branch is also actively engaged in other healthy activities like basketball, tennis and charity walks.

Assisting LBC in many of these sports and community-oriented initiatives are the members of the
Talamak Golf, an active golf organization headed by its president, Boyet Bautista, and Chito Yorro,
Chairman. The club helps in the organization and running of various golf and badminton tournaments
that LBC Toronto branch sponsors. And even during many Filipino-Canadian social and cultural events,
such as the Taste of Manila foodfest or the ANCOP walk for charity, the members of Talamak Golf come
in droves to represent LBC and showcase its products. In return, LBC incentivizes the club with
sponsorship funds to cover various expenses like trophies, medals, plaques, shirts and golf caps. For
almost two decades now, this partnership between LBC and Talamak Golf remains strong, and will
continue to hold fast and steady for many more years to come. Next year, for instance, the LBC-GTA
Interleague Golf tournament will be hosted by Talamak Golf, and once again, via this partnership, LBC
and Raffy Policarpio will be at the helm.
