The Blue Eagles hurdled the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals and San Beda U side to kick off their campaign in tournament organized by Sports Vision and emerging the lone unbeaten squad in the early going of the elims marked by surprises and reversals.

“Actually, we have worked on our receive. Medyo nag-aalangan pa kami,” said Ateneo head coach Timmy Sto. Tomas. “Kailangan mas mabilis pa kami bumalik after every point.” But they expect a stiff challenge from the Tams eyeing to notch its second win in three starts.

“Moving forward, if we want to win against the other teams, yan ang kailangan namin pagtuunan ng pansin dahil we are blessed with talented setters and hitters right now,” added Sto. Tomas.

In the other men’s game, De La Salle U tries to bounce back from a sorry five-set setback to FEU last week against San Beda at 4 p.m.

Four NCAA schools, meanwhile, square off in women’s play in the tournament backed by Bola.TV, Beyond Active Wear, Asics and Mikasa. Reigning NCAA queen College of Saint Benilde and San Sebastian College-Recoletos usher in the four-game bill at 10 a.m. with the former seeking for its second straight win and the latter going all-out to break a three-game skid.

The Perpetual Help Lady Altas (1-1) and the Lyceum Lady Pirates (0-2) tangle at 12 noon.

All games will be aired on Solar Sports, the V-League’s official website, and Bola.TV’s app.
