Bautista confirms resignation of OTS chief

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime Bautista confirmed on Tuesday, Sept, 26, the resignation of Office for Transportation Security (OTS) administrator Ma.o Aplasca.

Aplasca’s resignation came after House Speaker Martin Romualdez was quoted saying that he would personally block the budget of OTS if Aplasca would not resign over the incident at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) wherein a female screening officer allegedly swallowed the $300 dollars which she allegedly stole from a foreign passenger.

The female screening officer denied the allegation and said that what she swallowed that was captured in a CCTV was a chocolate.

Aplasca earlier issued a statement saying that he was surprised that he was being asked to resign, even citing his accomplishments in the fight against corruption in the agency.

Aplasca reportedly resign in order to prevent the entire OTS from being affected amid the threat of Romualdez. — Ariel Fernandez
