MTRCB chair Lala Sotto trends on social media following suspension order on ‘It’s Showtime’

Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chair Lala Sotto is currently trending on X (Twitter) with netizens taking to the platform to air disgust against her following the suspension of “It’s Showtime!”

Note that on Monday, the MTRCB made public its decision to suspend the noontime program for 12 airing days relating to a segment of the show that aired on July 25, wherein show hosts Ion Perez and Vice Ganda were seen sharing cake icing in front of children.

Reactions were mixed.

Some fans are commending the agency for the speedy resolution of a contentious issue.

But many others are condemning the decision, deeming it too “harsh.”

They are venting their ire on Sotto, insisting she is behind the suspension of the show.

Note, however, that in a statement, the MTRCB made clear the decision was made “with careful consideration of prior warnings and offenses associated with the show.”

It added that Sotto inhibited from voting, “ensuring that members of the Board exercised their independent judgment in determining the appropriate course of action.” — Neil Ramos
