There is definitely no slowing down for Dimples Romana. Just this week, she walked into a new home network and, of course, that is TV5.
She was a vision in red as in TV5 red as she reminded us of her iconic teleserye character Daniella Mondragon from way back. In the teasers prior to her announcement, Dimples photos were with her iconic red trolley in tow.
During her contract-signing with TV5, which was held at the board room of the executive floor, News5 chief Luchi Cruz-Valdes was there to greet her as well as TV5 president and CEO Guido Zaballero.
With the recent ratings of AGB Nielsen showing the growth of News5 in terms of TV performance and advertisers, this is the perfect moment for spicy and interesting characters to be added into the mix and join the growing organization.
“Very, very extremely welcome addition. Sino naman hindi nakakakilala kay (who doesn’t know) Dimples Romana? So, we now have a celebrity icon within the newsroom and this is an empowered woman. Woman of knowledge. Maalam at iyan ang gusto namin sa News5. Swak na swak!” Cruz-Valdes shared.
Meanwhile, Zaballero said that it was during an executive meeting that it was announced that Dimples would be joining the News5 family.
“Napapalakpak kami! Talagang lu-me-level up na ang Gud Morning Kapatid. Everyone was just so happy.”
Of course, we sat down with Dimples to gather her thoughts on why she has embarked on this journey after more than 20 years in her showbiz career.
“It is something I feel like is a level up! I would host naman but in the beginning of my career, I was always perceived as an actress. Pero ganoon pala iyon ano when you get past your 20 years in the industry, you evolve,” she said.
Right on her birthday, Nov. 13, Dimples will make our morning ever brighter as Gud Morning Kapatid welcomes her with open arms.
Dimples is a mother of three, an entrepreneur, a multi-awarded actress and a mentor to many of today’s young stars. She has wisdom when it comes to managing her life and that is a great input for the morning show.
The segments which Dimples will be at the helm are as follows: May Bahay, about home improvement tips on a budget, and Smart Parenting, on practical parenting advice.
“News 5 got me for Gud Morning Kapatid and to be honest, it is not far from what I do, ang daldal ko naman, plus the energy is really nice,” she shared.
Dimples just finished her stint in the action series The Iron Heart and has a major teleserye slated for next year. For now, she is focused on doing a daily show for the Kapatid viewers.
She then reflected on how much blessings she has now and shared that it is indeed her harvesting season in life.
“Ako kasi naniniwala ako doon sa if you work very hard and patiently and quietly, mahihinog lahat ng itinanim mo, eh and every morning, I wake up and ask myself, ‘Do I deserve this?’ And I have been working hard for the past two decades,” she said.
Dimples will co-host Gud Morning Kapatid with Jester delos Santos, Justin Quirino, Maoui David, and Chiqui Roa-Puno. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 9:30 a.m. on TV5. Catch the show’s livestream via the News5Everywhere YouTube channel, so don’t miss out on it even while on the go. — MJ Marfori
