For 23-year-old producer YMP Cash, the internet is a platform to bring trap music into the consciousness of Filipinos.
Cash flew in from Italy last April to sign an exclusive contract with independent Filipino label Off The Record in the hopes of spreading his melodic trap music propaganda. His debut single, “My Way” came out on September 15 on all streaming platforms.
Little is known about YMP Cash, but his music has been around for quite a while. He is a Laoag native who found himself migrating with his family to Italy at a young age. Out of sheer interest in hip-hop, Cash found himself exploring and learning music production at 15.
As he forayed further into the genre, he started listening to Travis Scott and Playboy Carti– citing them as his biggest influences. Through the power of the internet, Cash established a name in the hip-hop scene, scoring prod work for Interscope Records for artists like Chucky73 and Jay Critch.
With certified bangers “Nube,” “Dreams in a Wraith,” and “Desde Cero”, YMP Cash landed coveted spots in the ever-popular NBA 2K series of games, notably in NBA 2K21 and NBA 2K23, Adult Swim / Rick and Morty, respectively. He shares that these are achievements for a young producer. However, he refuses to stop there.
As YMP Cash comes home to the Philippines, he plans to cement his legacy on the Pinoy Hip-hop landscape with his unique take on trap music. In an exclusive signing event with Off The Record PH and Amplified Entertainment, he is confident he will be a household name in the music industry. He also shares his dream collaborations – notably Skusta Clee, King Promdi, and Flow G.
