MANILA, Philippines — Kapamilya actress Kathryn Bernardo led Uratex Philippines in securing the Guinness World Record for the Largest Human Mattress Domino with 2,355 mattresses in SMX Convention, Pasay City last Sunday.

Kathryn is the latest endorser of Uratex.

According to the mattress brand, the initial two numbers of the participants, 2 and 3, were derived from 2023, while the final two, 5 and 5, were selected to commemorate the company’s 55th anniversary in 2023.

The largest human mattress dominoes was previously recorded in Brazil, consisting of 2,019 people. It was achieved by Globo Comunicacao e Participacoes S.A. and Ortobom at Riocentro, in Rio de Janeiro, on August 6, 2019. The attempt lasted 11 minutes and 13 seconds. After which, all the 2,019 mattresses were donated to charities.

In the Philippines, the participants were selected from a list of volunteers, which included both Uratex employees and charity representatives. All volunteers who met the height and age criteria specified by Guinness (at least 4’11” in height, aged 16 and above) and were in good physical condition were welcomed to be part of the event.

To commemorate this milestone, the brand will donate the 2,355 mattresses to charity organizations.

Some of the charities that will receive donations are orphanages and homes for the elderly, which provide sanctuary for individuals who have been abandoned by their families. Among the specific beneficiaries are House of Somang (House for the Elderly), Saint Rita Orphanage, Tahanan ng Pagmamahal Children’s Home, and Bethany House Sto. Niño Orphanage. These organizations play a vital role in offering care and support to those who need them most.

Last May, Kathryn, together with Gatorade Philippines, broke the Guinness World Record for the “Largest Aerobic Weight Training Class” with 1,308 people participating at the Gatorade No Sugar Sweat Fest on May 6, 2023, held at the Malll of Asia Concert Grounds in Pasay City.

The new record broke the records set by Hour of Power and Honley High School, both held in the United Kingdom, with 978 participants.

Meanwhile, Kathryn is proud of her movie “A Very Good Girl” after it continues screening in different countries.

In an interview with the media during the Uratex event last Sunday, Kathryn said it feels good for her have a movie being appreciated abroad.

“Kakaibang experience. ‘Di ba dito sa Pilipinas, kung paano nila tinanggap ‘yung movie, pero ibang experience din ‘yung pumunta kami do’n for international movie. Makikita mo kung gaano ka-proud yung mga kapwa Pinoy natin, even ‘yung non-Filipinos,” Kathryn said.

“So alam mo ‘yun, para gawin mo ‘yung ganong project, hindi lang dito sa Philippines but for other countries, nakaka-proud lang. Ang saya. I’m very grateful sa lahat ng nangyayari,” she added.

When asked what’s next for her, Kathryn said she will take a break for a while since her film is still showing in different countries.

“Pinapalabas pa siya sa ibang bansa so tapusin muna ‘yon. I’ll take a short break lang then tsaka idi-discuss kung ano ang gagawin ko,” she said. — Jan Milo Severo
