Improve intrinsic motivation.

Build up personality traits that foster flow states. Feel pleasure knocking out tasks even without external rewards. Engage in boredom coping. Have the ability to do tedious tasks in ways that are delightful.

Develop expertise.

Perform tasks in the area of your specialization. It is easier to be “in the zone” with these familiar activities. Automate the difficult parts.

Boost positive emotion.

Positive emotions result in lowered self-consciousness. It likewise alters the perception of time.

Challenge yourself.

Do not stick to what is easy and boring. Brave thought-provoking projects. Explore to find your sweet spot.

Stay in the flow through intense concentration. Invest all your attention. Do not let your mind wander. Do not worry about other things. Never mind what others might think.
