Brenda Lee received an early Christmas gift after her classic holiday song “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” zoomed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts for the first time in 65 years.

Mariah Carey, whose perennial holiday song, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” climbed to No. 2 on the US chart for Dec. 9.

“Thank you so much for listening and rockin’ this holiday season!” wrote Brenda on social media.

Mariah congratulated Brenda on the milestone by sending her a bouquet.

Brenda, 78, shared a photo of the flowers and Mariah’s card.

“Congratulations on your historic #1. Have a Merry Christmas, Love Mariah,” the card read.

“Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree'” was released on Nov. 24, 1958. But it was only in 1960 that the song charted on the music chart.

In November, Brenda released an official music video of the song. It went to No. 1 in December.

“Rockin” is Brenda’s third No. 1 song. The two other songs that went to the top of the chart were “I’m Sorry” and “I Want To Be Wanted” both released in 1960. — Robert Requintina
