Celine Dion makes surprise appearance at Grammy Awards

Canadian icon Celine Dion made a surprise appearance at the 2024 Grammys.

She walked onto the Grammy Awards stage to her song “The Power of Love,” and was met with a massive standing ovation from the audience.

“Thank you all. I love you right back,” Dion said, standing at the microphone.

This is a rare appearance for Dion, who has taken a step back from being in the public eye after being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, which she first announced to the world in 2022. It’s a disease that affects a person’s central nervous system, particularly their brain and spinal cord.

Last year, Dion announced that the upcoming dates for her “Courage” world tour were being cancelled due to her health condition and her sister, Claudette Dion, has been providing updates on the singer’s health to the public.

“When I say that I’m happy to be here, I really mean it, from my heart,” Dion said at the Grammys. “Those who have been blessed enough to be here, the Grammy Awards, must never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives, and to people all around the world.”

Dion went on to present the award for Album of the Year, an award she won in 1997, then presented to her by Diana Ross and Sting, for the album Falling into You.

At the 2024 awards ceremony, the Album of the Year award was presented to Taylor Swift, now winning the award four times, the most in Grammys history.

Swift won the award for her album Midnights, after announcing the release of her upcoming album, titled The Tortured Poets Department, which will be released on April 19.

Swift also took home a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album, which she won earlier in the night.
