Korean dad’s appeal for help leads to rescue of daughter in Pasay City, foreign suspect arrested

The worse nightmare for a father is to become helpless while his daughter is calling for urgent help.

Fortunately, officials of the Korean Embassy in the Philippines and the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) acted on his behalf and resulted in the arrest of a 41-year old Korean who was accused of sexually abusing his daughter during a raid in a condominium in Pasay City.

Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr., director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said the operation stemmed from the coordination of the Korean Embassy which said the victim was being drugged before being subjected to sexual abuse.

He said the father of the 23-year old female Korean asked for assistance regarding his daughter who was temporarily staying as a tourist in a condominium unit in Pasay City.

“Initial investigation disclosed that the father of the victim called the Korean Embassy that her daughter was sexually abused and forced to take drugs through injection by a fellow Korean National,” said Nartatez.

NCRPO operatives then went to the area on Saturday morning, March 9, which resulted in the rescue of the victim and the arrest of the suspect identified as Kim Hyeongbin.

Seized during the operation were two pieces of plastic sachet containing 19 grams of suspected shabu, and two other plastic sachets containing 17 grams of suspected cocaine, and an improvised glass tube pipe with white straw used as tooter.

The suspect is now under police custody and facing charges of violation of the laws relating to illegal drugs and abuse of women. — Aaron Recuenco
