Korean stars Ryu Jun-yeol, Han So-hee admit relationship; deny cheating on Hyeri

Actor Ryu Jun-yeol of “Reply 1988” and actress Han So-hee of “The World of the Married” admitted their relationship after they were seen together in Hawaii.

But they both denied cheating on K-pop idol-actress Hyeri, who was in a relationship with Ryu Jun-yeol starting in 2016 until they broke up in November last year or after six years.

In August 2017, Hyeri and Ryu Jun-yeol, who both starred in “Reply 1988,” publicly acknowledged that they were in a romantic relationship.  However, on Nov. 13 last year, news reports stated that the two stars broke up. They confirmed the breakup through their agencies.

On March 16, Ryu Jun-yeol admitted being in a relationship with Han So-hee through his agency, C-JeS Studios.

“Starting with yesterday’s [March 15] eyewitness account in Hawaii, speculative articles about Ryu Jun-yeol’s private life have been posted, so we would like to tell you the facts,” the agency said.

It added, “Ryu Jun-yeol and Han So-hee have been meeting since the beginning of this year after confirming that they have mutual feelings. After Ryu Jun-yeol broke up, he got to know Han So-hee and recently confirmed his feelings for her.”

Han So-hee, meanwhile, admitted the relationship through her personal blog and said she will apologize to Hyeri for responding to her post on Instagram Stories.

“First of all, it is true that the relationship continues with good feelings at first, but I would like you to exclude the word ‘transfer.’ It is true that we met through a photo exhibition, but that was through a friend of mine who is a photographer. I went there for a specific purpose, and I heard that we might be working together on a project, so I stopped by to say hello,” she said, referring to the TV show “EXchange” wherein former couples gather together to find love.

She added, “At the time when we exchanged our hearts, it was already the beginning of 2024, and the breakup with her (Hyeri) was finalized in early 2023, and I heard the breakup articles were published in November. Based on this fact, I confirmed my feelings and continued the relationship.”

After the rumors about their relationship came out on March 15, Hyeri posted on Instagram Stories a picture with the caption “This is funny.”

Han So-hee responded to her post by posting, “I don’t even like people who have a lover, I don’t interfere with other people’s relationships. I like ‘EXchange,’ but it is not in my life. I find this funny too.”

In the blog, she wrote, “That’s right, it was disgusting and lame. I should have just stayed quiet. I heard and saw various rumors and stories about my ‘transfer,’ even though I didn’t want to see them, so I think I lost my temper for a moment and committed a rude behavior.”

“I would like to apologize to that person as well, and that I did not respond wisely to you all. I sincerely apologize. I acted out of emotion before reason, so regardless of the reason, I admit that it is wrong,” she said. — Jonathan Hicap
