If we dissected the weather database for the St. John’s area, the greatest March daily snowfall occurred on March 4, 1891, when 61 cm of snow fell.
The all-time daily snowfall record for the St. John’s area remains the 101.6 cm of snow that fell on Feb. 13, 1894.
If you thought 53 cm of snowfall was a lot, some other areas of the Avalon Peninsula were forecast to see as much as 70 cm of snow with this latest winter storm.
