MANILA, Philippines — March 11 has not been declared as a national regular holiday, the Palace said on Thursday.

The Official Gazette has issued a public advisory debunking a fake news post claiming Monday, March 11th, 2024, as a national holiday for Eid’l Fitr.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the Official Gazette clarified that a document labeled “Proclamation No. 729” circulating online is “spurious.” This document supposedly declared March 11, 2024 as a holiday.

The OG confirms that this is a “tampered version” of a genuine proclamation issued in 2019.

Eid’l Fitr, a major Islamic celebration marking the end of Ramadan, is traditionally declared a national holiday in the Philippines.

However, the exact date for Eid’l Fitr depends on the sighting of the crescent moon, following the lunar-based Islamic calendar.

No proclamation has been issued yet for this year’s Eid’l Fitr holiday.
