The next big love team

At the story conference held earlier this week, the young on-screen pair eagerly discussed their new project, sharing their experiences during script reading and the look test. They also acknowledged the excitement of their fans and expressed their desire to create a film that leaves a lasting impression on audiences.

“It’s our first movie on the big screen. We’re nervous. But knowing that the director is here, we’re confident that they helped, took care of us, and guided us. We’re grateful to be trusted. There are many artists, but we’re the endgame for this project. We’re grateful but extremely nervous. But another blessing is that we’re together,” Diaz said in the vernacular.

“I’m excited. I didn’t expect to reach where I’m seated now. I didn’t see it coming. But I am really happy. As an actor, this is the dream. I won’t forget this,” Fedelin added.

My Future You takes audiences on a romantic and interesting journey where a strange comet connects two timelines 15 years apart. Diaz’s character, Karen, and Fedelin’s character, Lex, meet through a dating app, unaware they exist in different years. As they discover this strange twist of fate, they attempt to change the past for a better future, but their meddling unleashes unforeseen consequences.

This isn’t just a love story, though. Director Aquino promises the film will also delve into family dynamics, making it a well-rounded story with both romance and heart.

“More than romance, it will address family matters. Fifty percent is about romance, while the other fifty percent focuses on family. That’s what sets it apart,” Aquino said.

Filming for My Future You begins on May 7, with the lead cast joined by Christian Vasquez, Almira Muhlach, Pewee O’Hara, Bodjie Pascua, Mosang, and Vance Larena.

Not the next KathNiel

While Diaz and Fedelin share undeniable on-screen chemistry that fuels fan speculation of a real-life romance, the rising stars describe their off-camera relationship as more of a supportive friendship.

While dodging questions about potential romance, they did acknowledge mutual respect and understanding. “There’s a time for everything,” Diaz said, hinting at a future possibility.

Diaz and Fedelin are eager to carve their own path. While they admire the success of established love teams like KathNiel (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla), they don’t want to be seen as replacements.

“We can’t replace KathNiel,” Fedelin said. “We want to be recognized for who we are, as FranSeth. We admire them and their achievements, but we want to create our own legacy.”

Diaz echoed this sentiment, highlighting their desire to forge their own unique identity.

“We want to be remembered as ourselves, a love team that brings something fresh and new to the screen.” — Nickie Wang
