Vice Ganda on achieving beauty inside out

In an industry that rewards youth, TV host and comedian Vice Ganda proudly proves that age — and the wisdom that comes with it — is something to be proud of.

Fresh from his much-talked-about birthday bash, Vice Ganda joined businesswoman Anna Magkawas at The Manila House in Bonifacio Global City to launch the latter’s new product released in the market: L’anna, a premium oral sunblock and stem cell supplement under the Luxe Skin Beauty Talks brand.

Vice — as the box-office star is fondly called in showbiz — admitted he wants to age gracefully so, he incorporates supplements in his routine.

“Of course I was curious at first. Like most of you, I’m more familiar with topical sunblock. But when Anna explained what L’anna does, I tried it for myself,” Vice said.

L’anna is a skincare supplement that combines natural extracts, vitamins and minerals including Polypodium Leucotomos (tropical fern) extract, Apple stem cell extract, and Vitamin E. Owner Magkawas explained that it can help aid skin protection, stimulate collagen production and enhance skin vitality.

Magkawas added that oral sunblocks have been around for at least a decade.

A medical article published at National Library of Medicine, (Oral Photoprotection: Effective Agents and Potential Candidates by Concepción Parrado, Neena Philips, Yolanda Gilaberte, Angeles Juarranz, and Salvador González) explained how oral sunblocks can help boost skin protection.

“Systemic photoprotection is often administered orally, complementing topical protection. New and classic oral agents are endowed with photoprotective and anti-photocarcinogenic properties. These substances bear the potential to increase systemic protection against the effects of electromagnetic radiation in the UV, visible, and infrared ranges,” the article noted, adding that protective mechanisms may include anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects.

It added that despite advancements in technology and innovative methods in this field, the limited effectiveness of sunscreens persists due to insufficient application and optimization.

As such, oral sunblocks may help in this area.

“I’m at the point in my life where I want to be taken cared of not just outside but from the inside as well,” Vice Ganda said adding, “I’m 48 and proud of my age but I want to age gracefully. At the same time, I don’t want complicated routines, that’s why I really like L’Anna.”

Vice Ganda is positive Filipinos will embrace this new technology in skincare.

“Filipinos are very adaptable, especially since we have the internet and social media to educate us with the latest technology. And because of the pandemic we went through, I think more of us nowadays really pay attention to our health and how we can take care of ourselves more using the product available in the market,” the endorser furthered.

Ultimately, Vice emphasized that using beauty products is most impactful when accompanied by positive emotions.

“I feel truly beautiful when I’m surrounded by people who love me — my family, my husband, and my dear friends. Surrounding yourself with love is incredibly empowering. Equally important is self-love. If you can love others, imagine how much more love you can give to yourself,” Vice Ganda concluded.
