Zsa Zsa Padilla, Karylle join grand Santa Cruz de Mayo

The Philippine Heritage Society, a devoted group of individuals dedicated to safeguarding the country’s cultural legacy, continues to support and collaborate with organizations and individuals who champion the cause of preserving Philippine native arts, culture and history.

With this, the Philippine Heritage Society, together with the Filipinas Heritage Foundation, the Intramuros Administration and the Admiral Hotel will present “Santa Cruz de Mayo 2024” within the historic walled city on May 19.

“It is our goal to showcase this beautiful traditional and religio-historical pageant to a new generation of Filipinos and tourists alike,” PHS said in a statement.

Mother and daughter Zsa Zsa Padilla and Karylle Padilla Yuzon-Tatlonghari will will walk as Reyna Emperatriz and Reyna Elena in the Santacruzan INSTAGRAM PHOTOS/ZSAZSAPADILLA, ANAKARYLLE 

The Santacruzan is a processional activity that usually takes place across the country in the month May. It honors the search of the Holy Cross as Reyna Elena, the mother of Emperor Constantine the Great.

Young women traditionally participate in the procession, representing various biblical and historical figures. The participants are called “sagalas.”

For the upcoming Santcruzan in Intramuros, mother and daughter Zsa Zsa Padilla and Karylle Padilla Yuzon-Tatlonghari will walk as Reyna Emperatriz and Reyna Elena respectively.
