18-year-old killed on the job along Highway 1 near Moose Jaw: police

The Moose Jaw Police Service says an 18-year-old woman who was struck by a coworker in a work vehicle along Highway 1 near Moose Jaw on Thursday died in a Regina hospital on Monday morning. (Kirk Fraser/CBC - image credit)An 18-year-old woman who was struck on Thursday while working along Highway 1 near Moose Jaw has died, police say.

The Moose Jaw Police Service says the woman was hit by a coworker driving a work vehicle at a low speed near the Manitoba Expressway, according to a news release Monday.

A separate news release said officers responded at about 9:16 a.m. CST Thursday to what they called “an accident involving someone trapped under a vehicle.”

Police say she was seriously injured and was transported to the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw, then later to a hospital in Regina. She died there on Monday morning.

Police say no charges have been laid in the incident.

Her next of kin have been notified. The Moose Jaw Police Service continues to investigate alongside the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
