Three suspects – Elmarie, mother of the victim, and her cohorts Lara and Elmer, both residents of Malolos City, Bulacan – were arrested by the police 24 hours after the incident.

The father of the victim reported to the Hagonoy police that his son left their house on Thursday afternoon, April 4, to visit a classmate. However, he did not return home.

The boy’s father received a distressing phone call that night from an unknown individual demanding a ransom of P3 million for the victim’s release.

His father reported the incident to the police who launched an operation to rescue the victim.

The victim’s father paid a P550,000 ransom and the boy picked up by the family driver in a fastfood outlet in Plaridel, Bulacan.

Police arrested the suspects and recovered the ransom and seized a black car with license plates NEA-5728.

Investigation said the victim was forced by his mother and her associates to stage the kidnapping as part of a revenge scheme against his father. — Liezle Basa Iñigo
