935 policemen dismissed in PNP anti-corruption drive

DETERMINED to cleanse the Philippine National Police of misfits, some 935 erring cops were dismissed from the service following their alleged involvement in various illegal activities and offenses during their tour of duty from January 2022 to August 2023.

Col. Jean Fajardo, PNP Public Information Office head, said some of the offenses were llegal drugs, robbery-hold, theft, extortion, homicide and kidnapping.

The PNP is looking into 3,097 other cases as part of the PNP’s desire to preserve the integrity and credibility of its mandate—-to protect and serve the people.

Fajardo said the dismissed policemen, based on investigation, were found guilty of these offenses.

“We will not let go of this, we will make sure that all personnel who committed grave offense will be dismissed,” Fajardo pointed out.

“This is to prove that the internal disciplinary mechanism, whether misdemeanor or grave offenses, like extortion or even illegal uses of drugs will not be tolerated, thus appropriate cases have to be imposed against them,” she explained.

However, erring police who were eventually cleared will still face administrative cases with equivalent penalty, which includes dismissal from the service depending on the gravity of the offense.
