The Philippine women’s softball team blanked South Korea, 5-0, to advance in the Super Round at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
It was a huge bounce back win for the Blu Girls who bowed to powerhouse China, 0-7, in their previous Group B match.

Royevel Palma pitched a perfect game for the Blu Girls until the sixth inning when the Koreans fielded the ball.
Cristy Joy Roa, meanwhile, hit a home run in the fourth inning to set the offensive tone for the Philippine.
“The advancement to the super round is an enormous success for us,” said Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (Asaphil) president Jean Henri Lhuillier.
“However, taking home the gold medal would be an even bigger accomplishment. We will continue to work hard, learn, and strive to be better as athletes and as a team, especially in our upcoming matches against other powerful teams. I believe that the girls have it in them to bring this one home.”
The Philippines finished its Group B assignments with a 2-1 record behind China’s 3-0 mark.
The Philippines and China will join Group A top seed Japan and Chinese-Taipei in the Super Round.
