Demonstrating remarkable skill and teamwork, the Blu Girls scored lopsided wins against Malaysia University Varsyti (13-0), Southside Stingers of Australia (7-0), Lakidende of Indonesia (8-0), and Miramar of New Zealand (6-0).

“These victories underscore our team’s capabilities and commitment to excellence,” said Jean Henri Lhuillier, president of the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (Asaphil).

“The Makassar Open is an important avenue for us to demonstrate our preparedness for global competition, and our performance so far has been a strong testament to our potential.”

Lhuillier also said that the team’s comprehensive performances have made them one of the teams to watch as the tournament progresses, and their lone loss to Japan has done little to dampen their status as strong contenders.

The Makassar Open also serves as the Cebuana Lhuillier-backed team’s final tune-up for the 2023 Asian Games slated in Shaoxing, China from September 26 to October 2, 2023.
