VICE President Sara Duterte paid a courtesy visit to the executive minister of the Iglesia ni Cristo, Bro. Eduardo Manalo, last October 2 at the INC Central Temple in Quezon City.
The visit was reported by INC-run television station NET 25 in its primetime news program on Monday, October 9.
According to the report, Duterte was “warmly received” by Manalo in his office and congratulated her for her work as vice president and secretary of Education.
The report also mentioned the new curriculum for Kinder to Grade 10 students called the “Matatag” curriculum, which aims to focus on core competencies and foundational skills of learners from those grade levels.
The Iglesia ni Cristo, according to the report, is a key advocate of education in the country, specifically the Alternative Learning System or ALS and Technical and Vocational education as part of the programs being implemented at New Era University.
When asked by The Manila Times regarding the visit, the OVP said that it had “no available details” to share, noting that it was a “private visit.”
Meanwhile, Manalo also received Deputy Speaker and Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo last October 6 also at the INC Central Temple. — Red Mendoza
