‘Abusive’ Australian with expired PH visa, invalid passport arrested in Bataan

An Australian who allegedly abused his Filipina live-in partner and her child, and whose Philippine visa had expired in 2018 has been arrested in Morong, Bataan, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said.

The BI identified him as Peter David Maxwell, 66, who was arrested last Oct. 25 by operatives of the bureau’s Intelligence Division and Fugitive Search Unit based on a mission order issued by Commissioner Norman Tansingco.

It said that “Maxwell’s tourist visa already expired in 2018 and his passport is no longer valid, thus making him an undocumented and overstaying who is subject to deportation. “

Tansingco said that “foreigners who harm Filipino women and children do not deserve the privilege to stay here and should be kicked out of the country.”

“The case reportedly stemmed from a complaint filed by Maxwell’s estranged live-in partner who accused the Australian of beating and abusing her and her child,” the BI said.

“The complaint also alleged that Maxwell has been the object of numerous complaints by people in their neighborhood in Morong, for being a troublemaker and threatening to harm other people whenever he gets drunk,” it added. — Jeffrey Damicog
