Empoy Marquez remains optimistic in finding love

PATIENCE — as we all know it — is more than just the ability to wait. It actually means keeping a positive attitude while waiting for bright things to come.

If there’s one comedian who’s got tons of it, it’s Empoy Marquez.

Admittedly with goose egg love life, Empoy is optimistic that — make it sooner than later — his Ms. Right will simply come out from the middle of nowhere.

Nah, he’s no totally inexperienced in matters of the heart. Empoy says his having no love life at the moment has a lot to do with a previous romantic experience he describes as traumatic.

Not one to share the details with the entertainment press, he says it’s long been water under the bridge: “The girl is already abroad and happily married to someone else. Thankfully, I’ve already moved on.”

Taking a cue from his leading lady Cristine Reyes in his latest flick, Empoy is pinning his hopes that he’ll eventually hit off with some girl out there, “It’s only a matter of time.”

He hastens to add, “By hook or by crook, I need to settle down. Hey, I’m not getting any younger! How I envy my contemporaries in the industry who already have families of their own. Well, I’ll get there!”

To begin with, just what is Empoy’s ideal girl?

“I want a girl who has a lot in her ATM!” he jests.

Just because he’s loveless means he doesn’t come on attractive to girls. On the contrary, Empoy takes pride in making the girls laugh over his antics.

“If you can make them laugh, you can also make them fall for you. I call it ‘chick magnet.’ It is through this that I’m able to attract them. I guess that’s very typical with us comedians. There’s this inexplicable charm that we exude that girls take notice of.”

Since it’s getting people in stitches that he does best, women in particular perceive Empoy and his ilk to be happy people with a sunny disposition in life.

The comedian, who’s deliberately sporting what appears to be a rugged hairstyle barbers out there will sure run after, says it’s never a dull moment with him.

With a sprightly aura, Empoy doesn’t find it difficult to earn the trust of women, “Kasi nga, I’m fun to be with! That’s the chick magnet I’m bragging about!”

Being loveless though doesn’t translate to being lonely.

“With too much on my plate like work plus my time well spent with my family, I think it more than compensates for having a boring love life! Anyway, this is not going to be a forever thing!” he reassures with a naughty wink.

In the meantime, Empoy will have to contend with being a “bona fide member” of the so-called SMP or “Samahang Malalamig ang Pasko.”
